ENSEK Benelux were this week (26.11.20) ranked 20th in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award, also securing the Energy Tech category. The award is based on the percentage growth of turnover over the last four years, for companies based in Belgium. The team have worked hard to drive innovation in the energy industry, improving cost and operational efficiency, as well as working to reduce complexity for energy retailers.
ENSEK Benelux MD, Ilse Melotte, and Gunter Walmagh, ENSEK Benelux's Business Development Director, caught up with Deloitte to give some context on the win and the strong growth trajectory ENSEK has experienced.
English translation of the video below.
How did you realise this growth?
Gunter: Despite the fact that there is only a limited number of energy suppliers, we have been able to build a good customer portfolio. It’s not easy in a niche market, but we have grown over the years by looking at our customer’s needs and developing services together with the team.
What is the most important lever for growth?
Ilse: With a small team of very motivated people, we’ve worked really hard. Important for us too, was the support received from Vlaio for a number of innovative software solutions.
What are the challenges you have to face?
Gunter: The growth is of course linked to the available resources and finding and retaining good people, which is crucial in this. In addition, we are of course also in the technology sector and it is important to keep up with the latest developments, such as GDPR or data security.
What is the impact of Corona [virus] for your company?
Ilse: Like all companies, we’ve had to deal with the Corona virus, but it’s impacted us in more of a positive light. A SaaS solution always runs - day and night. Our people are now all used to working from home. We have several stand up meetings every day. We coordinate with the team and know what everyone is doing… and that is all going very well.
What is your ambition for the future?
Ilse: In 2021 we want to grow further in our home market, which is Belgium and the Netherlands. But the intention is to further reach out to other neighboring countries and more broadly to other European countries… or as our mission puts it: “to become the solution provider of choice for leading energy companies”
